Norma Curtis PictureI write in the mornings when my mind is full of dreams. I dream a lot. I redream films and change them. If I'm awake before the dream ends I stay in bed and finish it with my eyes shut. Breakfast is black coffee and a Nicorette. (But I've never smoked.)
I write 1000 words a day – I'm a restless writer and a good moocher.
My sport is clay target shooting. It uses a different part of the brain – out goes the day-dreaming and in comes attentiveness, focus and quick reactions. And it's not subjective. A hit is a hit.
I read a lot; romance, crime, autobiographies. I always read friends' books. I look for them in their characters. It's even better if they're signed – makes the book a work of art.
We're all instinctive story-tellers. We're hard wired to listen to them and to pass them on. And unless you're a journalist, never let the truth come between you and a good story.
